Format

One day conference on a Saturday.

9am coffee and bagels
930-11 3 or 4 talks
11-12:30 coffee and posters
12:30-1:30 lunch
1:30-3 3 or 4 talks
3-4:30 poster session
5:30 dinner

rick: proceedings on csaaw site sounds good.

Whom to invite

Graduate students and Faculty in complex systems related areas: NWU, MTU, UI, ND, MSU, Waterloo, Duke, George Mason, SFI, Wisconsin, U Chicago, Indiana, Iowa, and beyond.

rick: we should "twist arms" a bit to get local students to attend/present.
And we should get some contacts at these other places to email to local groups.

Size

Between 4-8 oral presentations and 10-30 posters is the ballpark we're shooting for. We can handle more if the interest is there. So, around maybe as many as 60 attendees total.

Funding

CSAAW money (Budget now has an updated budget) and CSCS is willing to spot the difference if we need more.

rick: i would not expect much external funding. we should work out cost estimates for a few options of what we provide, see what we want to spend from csaaw funds, and i am sure we can some from CSCS. Costs typically include:

coffee/donuts before morning session, morning break,
* coffee/cookies for afternoon break
Optionally lunch could be provided
Dinner -- is typically costly, unless its just going to dominicks for pizza.

I'll ask howard to give us cost/person for the coffee/etc, and for a typical lunch.

Eric: Just as a ballpark $5.50/person breakfast $10/person lunch and $20/person dinner for 30 comes out to $1065.

The large lecture hall on the 3rd floor of West Hall, and the "cookie room" are reserved for us on May 16. Dorm room rental in West quad is $48 for a single, $60 for a double
