Eric Bonabeau,
Founder and Chief Scientist of
Icosystem Corporation,
is one of the leaders in the field of swarm intelligence, complex
systems and distributed adaptive problem solving. He has extensive
experience in applying the concepts of swarm intelligence to real
world problems such as factory scheduling, telecommunications routing,
distributed optimization and various control problems. Eric's
commercial experience includes years of research and development in US
and European telecommunications and software companies as well as
establishing Eurobios. He sits on the advisory board of several
companies, including a number of Fortune 500 corporations.
Eric has a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics from Paris-Sud University in
France, and he spent several years as a Research Fellow at the Santa
Fe Institute. He is also an alumnus of the two premier French
universities: Ecole Polytechnique and Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications.
He is co-author of more than 100
scientific articles in international journals and conference
proceedings, three books (Intelligence Collective, Hermès Sciences,
Paris, 1994; Swarm Intelligence: From Natural to Artificial Systems,
Oxford University Press, 1999; Self-Organization in Biological
Systems, Princeton University Press, 2000, and co-editor-in-chief of
Advances in Complex Systems.
