Cmplxsys 250 Social Systems and Energy
Instructor: Carl Simon
TTh 4-5:30pm
Short Course Description:
Energy is an incredibly complex topic by virtue of the inter-linkages of science, technology, public policy, economics and human behaviors. This course will examine all aspects of energy: supply and demand, technical and social, with a concerted look at the natural place of social science (behavior, pricing, externalities, social norms) in the energy sphere.
CSCS does not currently offer a major in the Complex Systems Studies.
However, students can arrange there own "self constructed" majors,
through the LSA
Individual Concentration Program (ICP).
For details about the ICP, please visit their web page.
Based on classes that have been offered in the past,
here are some suggestions for ICP majors in Complex Systems.
However, note that students interested in a Complex Systems ICP major should work with
CSCS faculty to formulate a set of courses appropriate to the students interests and needs.
Beginning in 1999, students in LSA are given the option of electing
one or more academic minors offered by units within the College.
For details, see the LSA
Academic Minors webpages.
CSCS plans to offer a minor, but the requirements have not
been formulated nor approved by LSA at this time.
If you are interested in a minor, please send mail to
cscs@umich.edu
and we will add you to the list of students to be notified
as soon as the minor is formulated and approved.
