Many computers are only as accessible in a lab - that is to say, restricted by their schedules and available seats. Your CSCS account, however, is a different kind of animal. Although the lab computers are still physically available to you for access during the open lab hours, you can access them remotely at any time. This convenience, however, requires some learning for most to take advantage of. That's why we're going to get you started. Basic AccessIf you're going to be accessing the machines from Windows, get started here. If you're going to be accessing the machines from Mac OS X, get started here. If you're going to be accessing the machines from Linux, get started here. ComputersCSCS provides a number of computers, as listed here. From the user's point of view, all the linux machines are the same -- when a user logs in to any machine, they will see the same home directory and the directories and files it contains, and the same applications will be available. FilesLearn how to use SFTP to transfer files to and from your CSCS account here. BackupsLearn how backups are executed, as well as how to access them here. Scratch SpaceLearn when and how you should use the scratch space here. Trackbacks: Results of search for Site.GettingStarted list=normal :
